Gabriele Wohmann (signed) - Die Bütows - Eremiten-Presse 1967

Gabriele Wohmann (1932-2015) was a German writer who left a considerable body of work (mainly novels and short stories, but also plays, radio and TV programs, essays and poetry), often dealing with loneliness, the difficulty of communicating, existential boredom and the temptation of suicide. She also paints a satirical portrait of German society.
Die Bütows shows the survival of the National Socialist upbringing she suffered in her youth. It describes a narrow-minded petty bourgeoisie dominated by a domestic tyrant, the pharmacist Karl Bütow, nostalgic for order and Spartan education.
Original prints by Walter Zimbrich
